The role of a Global Alumni Ambassador

Global Alumni Ambassadors help to develop a network of key contacts and representatives in different geographical areas.

Global Alumni Ambassadors offer information and guidance to prospective and current Leeds students and support the growth of alumni activity by organising various types of alumni events in their region. The role of a Global Alumni Ambassador can be varied, depending on the University’s regional priorities and will work closely with the Alumni and Supporter Engagement Team at the University of Leeds.

Provide local insight and advice

As a Global Alumni Ambassador with specific local insights, you may be asked to:

  • Advise about cultural expectations and local norms.
  • Offer insight into region-specific job markets and give employability advice.
  • Act as a point of contact for information and advice about your industry or field of expertise.
  • Act as a point of information regarding alumni activity taking place in your local area.
  • Assist University of Leeds staff visiting your area by providing information about accommodation, local contacts, schools, and venues where recruiting events can be held.

Regional activity

As part of the University’s regional activity, Alumni Ambassadors may also be asked to:

  • Attend and assist at regional University-organised events, helping to network and build communities.
  • Gather news and photos about local alumni events.
  • Assist with and support in the development of two events per academic year as part of a wider network.
  • Complete a brief report after contact with an alumni or after attending an event.
  • Undertake any other localised duties as reasonably required.

Promote the University of Leeds

As a supporter of the University, you will be expected to:

  • Raise awareness of alumni contributions and support and the University by advocating for and championing the alumni community.
  • Operate within the guidelines, procedures and regulations of the University of Leeds.
  • Share your passion for the University of Leeds with others.
  • Represent the University of Leeds’s Values and Responsibilities.

We are currently piloting the role of Global Alumni Ambassador in South Korea and India, and we hope to expand it to other countries in the future. If you are in one of these key regions and would like to become a Global Alumni Ambassador, email Advancement team at alumni@leeds.ac.uk
