Bragg Centre research themes Bionanotechnology

Smart functional and responsive materials are based on biologically-inspired principles. They present opportunities including biomedical applications and directed 3D nanostructure assembly in which particles are assembled into ordered structures.
Our research includes:
-
materials and approaches for stem cell therapies and targeted and triggered drug delivery
-
biosensors for rapid diagnostics – for example to reduce anti-microbial resistance
-
membrane models
-
organ-on-a-chip systems which allow researchers to test drug treatments on specific organs
-
advanced contrast and calibration agents in healthcare applications
We focus on the translation of research into practical treatments for patients and collaborate with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
