Academic Design Consultant, Learning Design Agency

About me

I’m passionate about making transformative learning experiences available to all students, regardless of their background.

My academic development practice builds on extensive experience gained in major UK and Irish universities across roles in research and teaching with integrated and wide-ranging student academic-pastoral responsibilities – from admissions tutor, personal tutor and year abroad and placements tutor to dissertation supervisor.

I’ve held academic roles across the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum in International Strategic and Human Resource Management and French Studies while developing and managing a portfolio of pedagogic and research projects. I’ve therefore gained invaluable lived experience of navigating the multiple priorities which define academic careers.

This lived experience is foundational to the values-led and solutions-focused partnerships with academics, students and professional service teams which I aspire to build in the context of my work for the Learning Design Agency, the Faculties and the broader University.

Over the last two years, I’ve organised two series of Faculty-level CR-focused pedagogic practice workshops tailored to arts-and-humanities disciplines: Engaging Curriculum Redefined through the Arts and Humanities and the follow-on series in support of the Build Phase of Curriculum Redefined, A Focus on Disciplinary Learning and Assessment and Feedback in the Arts and Humanities

How I can help

As part of the build phase of Curriculum Redefined, I can offer research-led one-to-one and programme team consultations as well as bespoke workshops and resources in the following areas:

  • authentic assessment in the arts and humanities
  • developing discipline-relevant assessment briefs
  • supporting students' transition to new HE assessments in the first year
  • designing curricula to support students with navigating disciplinary bottlenecks
  • embedding support for students' feedback literacies (including 3 student-facing guides on learning from individual, peer feedback and group-based assessments designed in consultation with the FAHCSAB).

You can find a full list a list of funded individual and collaborative research and educational development projects on my Organisational Development and Professional Learning profile
