Job title
Academic Development Consultant, Curriculum Redefined

About me

I’m passionate about embedding justice, equity, diversity and inclusion into learning design across student education. I want to ensure that higher education is accessible to all students regardless of their background or circumstances.

My practice is situated within inclusive pedagogies and pedagogies of care. I have a particular interest in teaching strategies and innovations which value multiple ways of knowing, seek to decolonise the curriculum and endeavour to make the hidden curriculum visible.

My academic development consultancy work draws on a wide range of experiences within student education spaces. This includes teaching in secondary schools, teaching at higher education institutions in the UK and US, and leading academic development through widening participation and access programmes in the charity sector. I also have lived experiences as an international student and researcher.

Alongside my work as an Academic Development Consultant, I’m a Fellow of the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence until September 2024. For this, I’m leading on a project exploring how postgraduate students completing fully online Masters programmes conceptualise, define and experience a sense of belonging. I’m also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

How I can help

I can help you with exploring opportunities to design inclusive, equitable and accessible learning environments. This includes decolonising, improving assessment and feedback, surfacing skills and creating opportunities to make the hidden curriculum visible.

I work across the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health, supporting the Experiential Learning thematic area of Curriculum Redefined.
