My role 

I lead on programme development, teaching and learning quality assurance and enhancement, student support and recruitment of students to the part-time Learning and Teaching with SEND BA.

I also deliver teaching modules on Theories of Learning, Developing Teaching Skills, Playful Learning, Inclusion and SEND and Autism and I lead a Work-Based Learning module for our SEND pathway students.

I am an academic personal tutor and supervise final year dissertation students.

Professional experience

My background is in English Language, Literacy and Literature teaching, as well as SEND teaching and support and Teacher Education. I worked in the Further Education sector for 20 years as a Lecturer in English, an Advanced Practitioner and a Teacher Trainer.

My main areas of interest are SEND research and practice, particularly in relation to Autistic Spectrum Condition, and in developing appropriate teaching and support strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners, including EAL. I have carried out doctoral-level research into young men’s identities and dispositions towards writing.
