The University of Leeds and KPMG have agreed a partnership that centres around innovation and entrepreneurship.
Working together, we will collaborate on new projects in the areas of learning, skills and thought leadership, with the aim of driving significant value for both organisations as well as businesses and entrepreneurs in the region.
At Leeds, we understand the key role that universities have as drivers of talent and innovation, and regional prosperity and economic growth are key drivers to the partnership. Strengthening the bond between academia and industry remains a priority for regional prosperity.
Support for entrepreneurs and scaling businesses
The University of Leeds and its innovation hub – Nexus – supports regional economic growth by fostering an innovation-driven business network.
KPMG’s physical presence within the Nexus building demonstrates their commitment to supporting innovation-led founders and University spinout companies in the region. They contribute to the wrap-around support offered by Nexus to ambitious businesses looking to grow and collaborate with the University.
Learning and skills
KPMG’s partnership extends beyond Nexus to the wider university. Ongoing and new projects focus on areas such as learning, skills development, and thought leadership.
This collaboration aims to empower students and academics by connecting them with real-world opportunities, including research and consultancy, placements and internships, and mentoring and coaching.
Since the partnership began, 10 experts from KPMG have delivered industry insight sessions to students across faculties, and more than 15 have acted as mentors.
Building brighter futures: National Numeracy Day
In 2023, KPMG and the School of Mathematics, worked together to bring nearly 200 school-aged children onto the University of Leeds campus for National Numeracy Day which aims to build brighter futures through confidence with numbers.
The children travelled from schools in Leeds and Rochdale and spent the day working on numbers based activities, with the help of the Digital Makers team at the University of Leeds, and also got to experience the university campus.
Executive education offering
