Applying

Apply for the University of Leeds International Foundation Year using our online application form.

Deadline for applications: 18 August 2025.

You’ll need to upload copies of your supporting documents including:

  • your most recent high school transcript 
  • your English Language certificate 
  • your passport
  • any previous UK visas.

Once you’ve passed the initial International Foundation Year with the required grades, you’ll progress onto your chosen undergraduate degree programme. There’s no need to make a new application or take a new English Language test.

Additional supporting documents

Depending on which undergraduate degree you want to study after the International Foundation Year, you may also need to provide additional documents as part of the application process. If this applies to you, we’ll send you guidance on this after we’ve received your online application form

Personal statements 

For some degree courses, you’ll also need to send us a detailed personal statement.

Portfolio (Design courses)

If you want to progress onto a undergraduate Design degree, you’ll also need to send us a portfolio.

ABRSM qualifications (Music courses)

If you want to progress onto a undergraduate Music degree, you’ll also need to send us proof of your ABRSM instrument Grade 8 merit or Grade 7 distinction, and ABRSM Theory Grade 5 merit.

Replying to offers

Once you received an offer, you need to reply to us with a decision by either accepting or rejecting the offer before the following deadlines:

  • 14 April 2025 for applicants who applied between September 2024 to 31 March 2025.
  • 25 August 2025 for applicants who applied between April 2025 to 18 August 2025.

If you don’t reply to your offers by the deadline, the offers you have will be automatically declined.
