Whether you want to keep fit, play sport socially or compete at a high level, you’ll find everything you need at Leeds to keep active and feel your best.
The Edge
You’ll get discounted access to our indoor sports facility on campus, The Edge. If you’re living in university accommodation you’ll get free Edge Club membership and can choose to upgrade your membership if you’d like more flexibility.
It has a 250-station gym, a 25m swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms and a climbing wall. There are also squash courts and sports halls where you can play badminton, netball, five-a-side football and more.
There are also studios offering a variety of exercise classes during term time. You could also access the dedicated personal training and strength and conditioning rooms with qualified trainers available when you need some extra motivation.
Outdoor sports
You could make use of our excellent outdoor sports facilities at nearby Sports Park Weetwood and Bodington Playing fields, including a 1.6km lit outdoor cycling circuit.
Our outdoor centre in the Yorkshire Dales is perfect for activities like hiking, caving, mountain biking and climbing. There’s also a boat house next to Thwaite Mills in Stourton with direct access to the canal for rowing.
Sport clubs and programmes
At Leeds you’ll be able to get involved in sports clubs and societies whatever your ability or ambition. You could get involved in a range of activities from surfing to dance to martial arts.
Our Get Out, Get Active programme gives you a chance to meet new people while exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
You could also develop new skills with our top-quality coaching, officiating and leadership programmes, or get in involved a local or international community sports project.
Elite athletes
If you’re an elite athlete, our Sports Scholarship programme will support you to achieve academic and sporting excellence.
