The pre-sessional course improved my English academic writing skills and built my confidence to have conversations in English. When I started my undergraduate course, my classmates hadn’t tried to do academic writing before, but I had, and it was helpful.
Before I came to the UK, I wasn’t confident in my English level, but after the pre-sessional I started to be confident enough to speak.
I was chosen to be the course representative during the pre-sessional, and it was not very difficult – I simply had to chat with other students and find out what they wanted to say to the course leaders. Becoming the course representative helped me to know many new friends. I also went to Conversation Club at the Language Zone, and attended some activities at Leeds University Union, like badminton.
Before I came to the UK I thought that maybe the pre-sessional is not a good choice because I’m spending extra time and money on it, and using my summer holiday. But after I came I think the pre-sessional is well worth it, because it has been my best time in the UK. I had time to make friends, and the pre-sessional provided me with a chance to become familiar with university life in a relatively relaxing way.
