Leeds International Summer School is a study abroad experience that I will never forget.
During my time in Leeds, I made friends from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds. I enjoyed getting to know all of these people and to hear their stories. This really broadened my horizons.
The social activities which are organised throughout the summer school are a good opportunity to make new friends in a casual way. How easy it is to come in contact with other people during a fun game of mini golf or a musical karaoke night!
For me, one of the main reasons why I wanted to study at the University of Leeds was because of the opportunity that it gave me to follow other courses rather than the courses at my home university.
It was actually quite difficult to choose which courses I wanted to do because all of the courses sounded so interesting! Finally, I chose ‘Special Effects in Filmmaking’ and ‘Introduction to Digital Photography’. Both of the courses were so much fun and gave me lots of new insight into the subjects.
My favourite course was ‘Special Effects in Filmmaking’ as we had the opportunity to learn how to edit videos with the newest software and make our own movie. I really liked the practical approach of this course – something that you wouldn’t expect at a university but which definitely made it more interesting.
Another unique aspect of this summer school was the huge number of trips. I enjoyed the beautiful landscapes and cities during the big trips at the weekends. The guided walks that were organised are truly recommendable as it shows you the highlights of those places and allows you to make even more new friends.
I also really loved the organised field trips. The most special one was the BBC studio tour in Manchester as part of ‘Special Effects in Filmmaking’. We discovered all the ins and outs of the BBC during this interactive tour and we even had the opportunity to present the BBC news by ourselves.
If you want to have an unforgettable study abroad experience during summer with lots of new opportunities, then you should definitely apply for Leeds International Summer School!
