Gazan Humanitarian Scholarship

We offer Postgraduate Taught (PGT) scholarships for citizens of Gaza who have been displaced as a result of the ongoing conflict in the region and are living in a different country (outside of the UK).

Applications to the Gazan Humanitarian Scholarships closed on Monday 24 March (12pm) 2025. As this deadline has passed, we are now unable to accept further applications.

We understand factors beyond applicants’ control may have impacted their ability to complete an application ahead of the deadline. Unfortunately, however, the Gazan Humanitarian Scholarships have a fixed timeline and late applications therefore cannot be considered.

The scholarship provides:

  • the full cost of tuition fees
  • £12,000 in payments given directly to you for accommodation, study and living costs
  • Up to £5,500 towards the cost of your travel to the UK, Visa and NHS surcharge (for healthcare)
  • Full membership to The Edge, the University’s gym and sports centre.

Applying for the scholarship is not an application to gain a place on a course. To apply for a course, you must follow the instructions on your course page on Course Search.

Please note, your Academic School may not be able to accommodate this request.

Without an Unconditional Offer by this date, we will not be able to process your scholarship application.

Applications close at 12pm on Monday 24 March 2025. No applications will be accepted after this time. We will contact all applicants by 4 April 2025 to confirm if your application will be processed. The top applicants will be invited to an online interview taking place between 21st-26th April 2025. The successful scholars will be selected after interviews.

What English Language requirements will I need for the scholarship?

You need to have met any conditions for your offer to study, including English Language requirements, by 28 March 2025 for us to process your scholarship application. Please contact the Academic School you have applied to study in to find out how to meet those requirements. There are no specific English Language requirements for the scholarship itself.

Do I need a reference or will a reference improve my chances of getting a scholarship?

No, a reference is not required and supplying one will not affect your chances of securing a scholarship.

Can I switch to the University of Leeds if I am currently studying a programme elsewhere and apply for the scholarship?

As long as you have an Unconditional Offer to begin study at the University of Leeds in September or October 2025, you can apply for the scholarship.

Can I include family on my Student Visa application?

No, dependents cannot be included on a student visa application associated with this Scholarship. Your dependents may be able to apply for Visit Visas while you study, but the University is not responsible for arranging this.

Do I need a student visa to apply for the scholarship?
