You can also join our general sessions, where we’ll cover topics such as student finance, returning to education and support for mature students.

An introduction to student finance

Tuesday 29 April, 6-7.30pm

Thinking about going to university as an adult learner but worried about the money part? Want to find out more about the financial support available to you?

Join us for a free, online event to learn about:

  • applying for student finance as a mature student
  • loans and grants available from Student Finance England for full-time and part-time degree courses.
  • additional financial assistance you could be entitled to
  • support available to mature students at the University of Leeds.

Applicant drop-in sessions

In these sessions we’ll help you with completing your application for courses taught by the Lifelong Learning Centre, applying for student finance, writing your personal statement and anything else you need help with.

Our weekly applicant drop-in sessions run every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm (please note there will be no drop-in on Tuesday 22 April and Tuesday 27 May when the University will be closed).

There's no need to book for these sessions – you can just turn up.

Ready to take your career to the next level?

Did you know that the University of Leeds has flexible entry routes for adults?

Join the Lifelong Learning Centre for a free and informal networking event at Leeds University Business School.

You'll connect with other adult learners and teaching staff from our part-time Business Management and Leadership BSc programme and take part in a session on using LinkedIn more effectively.

Taught on an evening plus four Saturdays each year, the Business Management and Leadership degree is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to help you excel in a dynamic global landscape.

It offers:

  • supportive teaching
  • first class facilities
  • wraparound student support.

This event will include:

  • advice on using LinkedIn to enhance your online networking
  • an opportunity to make a free and impartial, one-to-one appointment with a member of our advice and guidance team
  • information about the Alternative Entry Scheme for mature learners at Leeds.

Studying as a mature student

Tuesday 20 May, 6-7.15pm

Are you an adult looking to return to study?

This free, online event will aim to dispel myths and answer common questions about studying at university as a mature student.

You will:

  • find out about our courses and support for adult learners here at the Lifelong Learning Centre
  • hear from some of our current mature students
  • have the opportunity to ask questions relevant to your individual circumstances.

Supporting learning, supporting families

Learning and Teaching with SEND - Wednesday 4 June, 6.30-7.45pm (online)

Child and Family Studies – Thursday 5 June, 6.30-7.45pm (online)

Both courses - Wednesday 11 June, 5.30-7.30pm (in-person)

Free online and in-person taster sessions to learn about our part-time degrees in Child and Family Studies and Learning and Teaching with SEND.

These courses can allow you to:

  • develop your career in education or with children, young people or families
  • balance study around your other commitments with classes taught one afternoon or evening per week
  • learn in a supportive environment with other adults.

Join us from the comfort of home, or attend an in-person evening session on the University of Leeds campus, to try out a taster of these courses. You'll have the opportunity to hear from tutors and current students, and to get your questions answered.

Join us at the Lifelong Learning Centre, in-person or online, to find out more about these courses for mature learners at the University of Leeds.

  • take part in short taster sessions
  • get information on student finance
  • learn about support for mature students at Leeds
  • hear from current students.

At the in-person event lunch and refreshments will be provided, and you'll have the opportunity to explore the University campus.

There are also a small number of pre-school childcare places available for the in-person event. Please book at least 10 days beforehand if you need childcare and we'll call you to discuss your request.
