A theatre company is looking for 30 teenagers to join a free open-air production of Dante's Inferno in Millennium Square, Leeds
The literary classic, which follows Dante's journey into hell, is being given a contemporary multi-media treatment - and young people are being urgently sought to join the cast. The play is being staged for the 2011 Open Weekend as part of a series of Olympic Celebration events.Director Steve Ansell explained: "This is a really exciting opportunity for young people to get involved in live theatre, and the performance will be a visual treat for all the family."
Steve is looking for 30 people aged between 13 and 19 who are free to attend all-day rehearsals at the University of Leeds on Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17, an evening rehearsal on Friday July 22 - and then be available from 10am-10pm on July 23, the day of the performance at Millennium Square. "They can be individuals, a group of friends, or members of drama groups or youth organisations," he added.
Steve has more than 25 years of experience working with young people. He is an associate artist at Dean Clough, former Associate director at Harrogate Theatre and currently manages stage@leeds, a new theatre in the heart of the University campus.
