Students have rated the University of Leeds as offering one of the best student experiences in the UK. The University has now been ranked in the top ten for the fifth year running.
Each year, the Times Higher Education student experience survey asks over 14,000 full-time undergraduates what they think about their university, gathering views across a range of aspects of university life, from the quality of teaching through to social life and accommodation.
Leeds is ranked ninth for students overall experience and is rated highly across all categories, with Leeds University Union being voted the joint-second best student union.
Other highlights include being voted joint-second for centralised and convenient facilities and joint-third for extra-curricular activities and societies.
Professor Vivien Jones, University of Leeds Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Education, said: We aim to give students a flying start to life by inspiring them to embrace everything that university has to offer. The powerful combination of knowledge and opportunity we provide for students is a defining feature of education at Leeds.
Working in close partnership with Leeds University Union, we listen to our students and work hard to respond to their needs and aspirations, so being voted into the top ten once again is really encouraging. Leeds is a fantastic place to live and study and we are very proud that our students also rate it so highly year after year.
Leeds University Union Affairs Officer, Bradley Escorcio, added: Making sure our students get the most out of their time at Leeds and supporting them every step of the way is what we strive to do day in day out.
Well continue to invest all our efforts into making sure every student loves their time at Leeds. A big thanks to everyone who rated us highly in the survey, its great to get such positive feedback.
The Times Higher Education survey, now in its tenth year, goes beyond the usual definition of the student experience comprised largely of teaching, learning, assessment and feedback to include all the aspects of university life that matter to students. Categories include campus environment, the quality of facilities, how well-structured the courses are, the helpfulness of staff, support and welfare, the value of local shops/bars/amenities, and how well connected the university is with industry.
