Now I’m here. Getting ahead.

A student sat in a library with a shelf of books in the background. Text says: Now I'm Here studying History, Henna.

Henna is planning her career using the personal and professional skills she has developed whilst at the University.

I always loved the academic side of History but I wasn’t sure if it would lead to the career in media I wanted. Now I’m here, I’m getting practical experience in journalism and publishing as Editor of the History Student Times and am using the writing skills I’ve gained through my course.

Henna

“My name is Henna and I’m studying History. I wasn’t always sure whether I would go to university as I didn’t know if a history degree would help me achieve the career in media that I wanted.

Since I arrived, I’ve really thrown myself into the opportunities the University offers, like clubs and societies. I’m getting practical experience in journalism and publishing as Editor of the History Student Times and am using the writing skills I’ve gained through my course in practice, which will be really useful once I graduate.

I’m so glad I chose to study History at the University of Leeds; I’ll graduate with a world-class degree as well as industry-ready skills – and I’m having the best time in the process.”
