Ellena: Now I'm here.

Adam: My name's Adam, I’m studying at Leeds and I love it. My parents didn't go to university. So it's a big deal for me. Funding from the university transformed my experience. It allowed me to access loads of activities I didn't know I could. Now I'm here. Exploring exciting opportunities.
(Henna is inside the Brotherton Library.)
Henna: My name is Henna and I'm studying history. I knew I wanted to work in media but I didn't know how to get there. History has always been an interest of mine. Before I applied I didn't know how a degree would help me get to my ideal career. Now I'm here. Planning my future.
(Ellena is talking from the front steps of the Parkinson Building.)
Ellena: My name is Ellena. I applied to Leeds through the Access to Leeds scheme. I was going through a difficult time while studying for my A-levels. My reduced offer through Access to Leeds meant I didn't have to worry so much. It gave me the breathing space I needed.
Now I'm here with support from Leeds.

Jack: My name is Jack and I’m studying at Leeds University Business School. I’ve always felt a special connection to Leeds and, after a few personal setbacks, the Foundation Year at the University of Leeds gave me the opportunity to succeed. I got all the support I needed to make the most of my time at Leeds. Now I’m here, finding my feet.
(Adam is walking through the Edge gym on campus, wearing boxing gloves.)
Adam: My extra funding allowed me to buy what I needed for the boxing society.
(Adam is exercising at a punching bag)
Adam: I'm meeting new people, trying new things.
(Adam is punching pads with a partner).
Adam: Now I’m here making the most of it.
(Henna is walking towards the media suite on campus.)
(Henna is sat in the media suite, surrounded by industry-standard cameras / equipment in the tv studio and other students.)
Henna: Since I arrived I’ve thrown myself at all the opportunities that the University of Leeds offers. I'm getting practical experience in journalism and publishing as editor of the History Student Times using the writing skills I've gained through my course. All with access to industry standard facilities. Now I'm here. Gaining the skills to get ahead.
(Ellena is walking towards the School of Music on campus.)
(Ellena is sat in the auditorium of the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall.)
Ellena: The support I got meant I didn't miss out on a university place. Now I’m growing in confidence planning a future in music therapy to help others. Now I'm here. Centre stage.
(Ellena plays the flute with an accompanying pianist and violinist.)
(Jack is practicing jiu-jitsu with other team members)
Jack: Discovering jiu-jitsu has given me a support network for anything that life could throw at me. I joined a community that was up for a laugh and always had my back. As president of the team, I gained the confidence to take myself to the next level. Now I’m here, leading the way.

Adam: Now I'm even applying to study abroad in Australia, which is something I never thought I'd say.

Adam: Now I'm here taking on the world.
(Henna is in the Common Ground Café on campus with friends.)
Henna: I’m so glad I chose to study history at the University of Leeds. I'll graduate with a world class degree and career ready skills. Studying at Leeds opened the doors to my dream career.
Now I'm here. Having the best time in the process.
(Ellena is at the Loma Café on campus with friends.)
Ellena: Before I arrived, I had help to prepare through the Access to Leeds module. It gave me the skills and knowledge I needed to succeed. Now I'm here with a head start.
(Jack is walking down University precinct to meet David outside on a bench)
Jack: I’ve received support from my mentor, David, all throughout my university experience. David called me before I started to welcome me onto the Foundation Year programme. He’s been with me all the way and now I’m in my final year he’s even coming to my graduation. Now I’m here, ready for my future.
