My passion for Sustainable Business Leadership came from becoming aware of inequalities in the global system during my studies.
After working in the third sector, setting up a social enterprise in the form of an ethical trading initiative, and undertaking a PhD on corporate social responsibility, I now focus my research on the extractive industries.
It’s a challenge to consider the idea of sustainable development in an industry that’s very contentious.
I’ve been looking at the early phase of extractive industries and how companies gain their social license to operate, their relationships with host communities, how they implement community development initiatives, and how those communities can drive accountability and perhaps benefit from some of the developments taking place.
As module leader for two modules on the online Sustainable Business Leadership Masters programme, you’ll work with me and develop your skills in policy, governance and sustainability, while taking a critical look at the relationship between business and sustainability and the need for businesses to drive positive change.
