Our ambition
The University of Leeds and Leeds City Council hold a shared ambition to work in partnership, and as part of the wider ‘Team Leeds’, to deliver real, lasting improvements in the lives of people and communities in Leeds and the wider region.
As anchor institutions, we both have a strong stake in the city’s future success. We want to make the most of the University’s capability and expertise to power evidence-informed policy development to tackle the most pressing challenges in our city.
How we will work together
Following a review of collaborative research between the two organisations in 2020, we have made significant progress in strengthening opportunities to work together and broadening these out to include a more diverse range of colleagues.
This framework sets out:
- How we will identify the priorities for our collaborative research activity.
- The contact points and support available to facilitate research collaboration, and the governance overseeing the strategic development of the collaborative work.
- The different routes that University and Council colleagues can take to share expertise and develop collaborations.
- How we will monitor, evaluate, and communicate strategic collaborative research activity between the organisations.
Working with others
The strategic research collaboration between the University of Leeds and Leeds City Council is not isolated but situated within an active landscape of collaborations and initiatives.
The framework sets out some of the many other collaborations and initiatives working in areas related to the Best City Ambitions three pillars of: inclusive growth, health and wellbeing, and zero carbon.
We will seek to be an integrated and connected part of this wider collaborative landscape, and welcome working with other partners and communities within the city and region.
