Performance and panel discussion to examine the reasons for the crisis in social care – and how we can address them.

This interactive event will prompt discussion around how we can build on good practice and develop collaborative and imaginative solutions to address the crisis in social care.

You’ll hear from the following panellists:

  • Melanie Weatherley Co-Chair, Care Association Alliance
  • Neil Eastwood, Founder and CEO, Care Friends
  • Oonagh Smyth, Chief Executive, Skills for Care
  • Karen Spilsbury, Professor of Nursing and Academic Director, NICHE-Leeds (Nurturing Innovation in Care Home Excellence)
  • Peter Hodkinson, Managing Director of Westward Care and Chair of Leeds Care Association

The event is being staged by NICHE-Leeds, an innovative partnership between care and science, focusing on enhancing quality of care, life and work in care homes. Together, we have a portfolio of social care workforce research.

Timings

The event will begin at 3pm with tea and coffee on arrival at the School of Music, University of Leeds.

It will include the performance of a spoken play Fighting for Life which sets the scene for some of the key issues for debate. This will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Question and Answer session.

The event will close at 6.30pm.
