You’ll have the opportunity to get work experience while studying at Leeds. Gain real-world experience and the skills to stand out from the crowd, making you more employable when you graduate.
You’ll increase your confidence, develop commercial awareness, learn how to build professional networks and push your personal boundaries. It’s also a great way to help you decide what kind of career you want when you graduate.

Work experience options
There are lots of ways you can gain work experience during your time at Leeds. You could take part in:
- a 12 month work placement year
- a summer internship or shorter placement as part of your course
- Student ambassador roles
- Summer internships on campus
- Visiting one of our employer partners on Insight Day
You could work within the public, private or voluntary sector either in the UK or overseas.
Each year our students secure placements with prestigious organisations such as Goldman Sachs, L’Oréal, Airbus and Warner Bros, as well as small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and not-for-profit organisations. You’ll also be able to apply for roles advertised exclusively to University of Leeds students.
