Myths & Legends: A Classics Competition privacy notice
Find out what data we collect, why we collect it and how long we keep it for, when you take part in the Myths & Legends: A Classics Competition.
To organise events and activities:
We ask for your name, school/key stage, teacher’s contact details and any access or dietary requirements that you have. This is so that we can organise activities and support you to take part.
If you aren’t a competition winner:
We will delete your name, school/key stage, teacher’s contact details and any access or dietary requirements that you have by the end of the academic year.
If you are a competition winner:
We will delete your first name, school/key stage and teacher’s contact details by the end of the academic year.
Winner surnames and school region are kept for six years to comply with Committees of Advertising Practice Code on Promotional Marketing 8.28.5 as a legitimate interest of the University to evidence fair competition.
We also ask for sensitive data about any disability or health and dietary requirements, known as special category data, so that we can support you to take part. We delete all your disability and health and dietary requirements at the end of the academic year.
Monitoring the impact of the project to improve what we offer:
We ask for your school name, year group and home postcode.
We also ask for data that will give you an individual code, so that we can match your answers across the surveys you complete. You will not be identified using this data, we don’t need to know who you are, but do need to be able to connect your answers to each survey to confirm they come from the same individual.
We will ask for the following data for the code:
- Number of letters in first name
- Birth month
- First three letters in surname
- Last letter of first name
We use this information to understand the impact the Myths & Legends: A Classics Competition is having, and to make improvements to it. Information is collected through our student pre- and post-programme questionnaires.
This data will be anonymised at the end of the following academic year.
Anonymous data we collect
We will ask you for your ethnicity, disability and gender but this will be on an anonymous form so you will not be identifiable. You do not have to fill the form out if you do not want to.
