Exploring Economics privacy notice
Find out what data we collect, why we collect it and how long we keep it for, when you take part in the Exploring Economics programme.
To organise events and activities:
We ask for your teacher’s contact details and any access or dietary requirements that you have. This is so that we can organise activities and support you to take part.
We will keep this data until the end of the academic year.
We will also ask for yours and your parent/carer’s consent to take part in a research project led by academics at the University of Leeds, exploring the factors influencing students’ decisions to pursue economics education. For more information about what sort of data the research team will be collecting and how it is used, please read the Participant Information Sheet. A copy of this should have been made available to you but if you need one, please email the lead of the research team, Bianca Orsi at B.Orsi@leeds.ac.uk.
Monitoring the impact of the project to improve what we offer:
We ask for your school name, year group and home postcode.
We also ask for data that will give you an individual code, so that we can match your answers across the surveys you complete. You will not be identified using this data, we don’t need to know who you are, but do need to be able to connect your answers to each survey to confirm they come from the same individual.
We will ask for the following data for the code:
- number of letters in first name
- birth month
- first three letters in surname.
We use this information to understand the impact the Exploring Economics project is having, and to make improvements to it. Information is collected through our student pre- and post-programme questionnaires.
This data will be anonymised at the end of the following academic year.
Anonymous data we collect
We will ask you for your ethnicity, disability and gender but this will be on an anonymous form so you will not be identifiable. You do not have to fill the form out if you do not want to.
