Leeds Futures Programme privacy information

Find out what data we collect, why we collect it and how long we keep it for the Leeds Futures Programme. 

To organise events and activities: 

We use your name, contact details, school, teacher contact details, parent/carer contact details, and your emergency/next of kin name and telephone number so that we can organise the activities and support you to take part.  We will keep your name, school and postcode for up to three years so that we can see if you apply to university after the programme.  We will delete the rest of this data at the end of your Year 13. 

We also ask for sensitive data about any disability or health, religious and dietary requirements, known as special category data, so that we can support you to take part.  We will regularly invite you to update these so that we have an accurate record of your needs.  We delete all your disability and health, religious and dietary requirements when you finish the programme. 

To check you are eligible to take part and monitor progress of the programme: 

Some subjects will specify criteria that you need to meet to take part and will require specific data to check your eligibility for the programme and support your progress (you will be told if this is the case).  We will also measure the impact of the programme on different groups using this data, to help us to improve future activities.   

Depending on the criteria set by the subjects you apply for, we may ask for your: 

We will keep your school and postcode for up to three years.  We will delete the rest of this data at the end of the programme. 

Improving the programme: 

We use your name, date of birth, postcode and school to monitor which of our activities you take part in and whether you apply to one of the courses at the University of Leeds. This helps us to understand the impact the programme has on the choices you make and what we can do to improve it for future participants.   

If you sign up to the Dental, Medicine or Healthcare strands of Leeds Futures, we will share this data with admissions, so that they can give you extra consideration at shortlisting stage, if you meet the eligibility criteria set for extra consideration for one of our courses. If you apply to one of these strands, they will send you more information about this. 

If you sign up to Leeds Futures – Politics, we will share this data with admissions, so that they can ensure students who are eligible, receive a guaranteed offer for one of their courses.  If you apply to a Leeds Futures – Politics, they will send you more information about this.   

We will keep this information for up to three years and then delete it. 

Staying in touch with us: 

If you give your consent, we will keep your contact details to stay in touch with you after the programme, to send you information about other things that we think will support your studies and progress to higher education, such as further activities, opportunities or resources.  If this is the case, we’ll keep them for up to five years and you can unsubscribe at any time. 

Unsuccessful applicant data:  

If you do not gain a place or do not accept your place on a programme, we will delete your data within 1 month of the start of the programme.
