Our programme of CPD teachers talks is available online or in person at your school or college.
The following sessions last 30 minutes and can be offered as part of an event or as a stand-alone activity.

Preparing for higher education: making the most of Year 12
This session focuses on the ways you can advise and support your students in their preparations for, and journey to, higher education.
What should Year 12s be considering to inform their choices and next steps?
How can your learners make their university application stand out?
We also explore the importance of developing the skills required for degree-level study such as critical thinking, independent study and research.
Supporting BTEC students apply to Russell Group universities
The University of Leeds offers a wide range of support to students from under-represented groups, and those applying via ‘non-traditional’ pathways.
This session provides an overview of: our BTEC entry requirements; our contextualised admissions scheme; how you can support your students’ applications; and explores the variety of support services offered at Leeds to aid the access, transition and success of BTEC students.

Writing academic references and personal statements
We examine the purpose of the academic reference in the context of the whole application form, explore what you know already, how you should approach the reference and how to make it effective for university admissions.
The session will also include advice and guidance on how you can support students writing their personal statements.
